Embrace the power of creativity as you immerse yourself in this hands-on meditation and drawing workshop led by talented, guest instructor, Sharon Barrett and meditation guide, Becky Swenson. Join us for Zen Doodle, a Practice of Mindfulness and Meditation.
Would you like to get zen while improving your drawing skills? This class is an introduction to the age old art of drawing repeating patterns, lines, texture and more. Sharon will share a few of her favorite doodles and give you references for many more. It will launch you into a world of drawing and creativity for relaxation and mindfulness.
Whether you love to draw, gave it up after childhood, or would just like a fun night with community, there will be something for you as we doodle together. Zen doodling is a beautiful way to keep your hands busy while focusing the mind. Creativity has a way of blossoming when we get into a state of open heartedness and flow.
Sharon shares, “I have been working in the realm of Botanical Illustration and though I love it….. I can get paralyzed by my expectations of precision. Sometimes I don’t know where to start and feel stress creeping into something that should be fun. I know for my journey drawing some most days is a good thing. I started mindful doodling to practice line work and getting in the flow and then fell in love with the results! I can’t wait to get to my desk everyday now and start doodling. I want to share this with everyone.”
Say goodbye to stress, step into zen, and open hearted flow and join us in creating some beautiful designs together.
Supplies will be provided, but if you have supplies at home feel free to bring:

Join us as we gather in a drumming circle led by Veronica Lightening Horse. Drumming Circles are known to create significant positive changes to physical, emotional, and mental wellness. When we drum together, we enjoy a deep connection to the earth and to each other. Research points to therapeutic drum circles as a powerful modality to help reduce stress and build a sense of community. Bring your own drum or percussion instrument or we can provide one. No drumming experience is needed. Come play and enjoy!
We will meet outside in the courtyard at the Parker Schoolhouse located at 19650 Mainstreet, Parker 80138
Meet us at Hidden Mesa Trail for an educational and inspiring workshop with Chantae, founder of Grassroots Farmers. Chantae will teach us how to prepare fertile soil to plant native seeds and food in your own backyard. We will take a short nature walk and Chantae will share the medicinal properties of the native plants along our walk. The walk will end near a brook where we will experience a guided meditation led by Beth.
Taking your practice into the natural world outside adds another dimension that an indoor meditation setting simply cannot provide. Nature has a way of commanding our attention and focus, compelling us to simplify our thoughts and gain a heightened sense of awareness. As we take in the natural environment, we start to notice the simple things around us: the breeze, the light, space, sounds and smells.
Each student will receive a gift bag with plant seeds to take home and enjoy.
Please wear appropriate clothing for an outdoor experience and bring your yoga mat or a small blanket for the seated meditation.
