Yoga Through the Lens of Diverse Spiritual Perspectives

This three-part series will be an opportunity to enlighten your understanding of other spiritual religions and the ways they interconnect. Many people use prayer as a form of meditation, or yoga to quiet their mind and body to prepare for prayer. By learning about the wondrous teachings and belief systems of other religions we can further deepen our practice and connection with others. You may attend one or all three classes.

Part 1: A Reflection on Judaism and Yoga

Led by Aliza Sodos

September 14, Wednesday, 6:30-8:00 pm at the Parker Schoolhouse

We will begin our series with a study of Judaism taught by Aliza. Aliza is a deeply passionate and wise guide that will lead us as we explore how these two ancient traditions come together, weaving the wisdom and traditions of both yoga and Judaism into an embodied practice that reminds us of the light within ourselves. Class will include movement, breath work and meditation.

Part 2: A Reflection on Hinduism and Yoga

October 11th, Tuesday, 6:30-8:00 pm at the Parker Schoolhouse

Close your eyes and take a minute and think what comes to your mind when you hear the word “Yoga”? Complex yoga poses, meditation, symbols or deities? What really is Yoga? Is Yoga a religion, a faith or something beyond? Join us as we explore the relationship between Yoga and Hinduism and understand the true essence and meaning of Yoga. Class will include a short discussion followed by guided meditation and Yoga Nidra with Shruti as our instructor and knowledgeable guide. this space to add more details about your site, a customer quote, or to talk about important news.

Part 3: A Reflection on Christianity and Yoga

Led by Kristin Gibowicz

November 15th, Tuesday, 6:30-8:00 pm at the Parker Schoolhouse

Have you ever felt like you have experienced God on your yoga mat?

Through breath, movement, and meditation we can become present to the Presence of God. In Christian tradition, we learn from scripture that says, “For in him we live and move and have our being.” Acts 17:28 . Join Kristin Gibowicz, Founder and Lead Trainer of Living Soul Institute, for a soul flow to complete our series in Yoga Through the Lens of Diverse Spiritual Perspectives. We will practice yoga presence and power of worship through the Christian tradition.

YOGA IN THE PARK

Join us for All-Levels Flow at the beautiful Lakeshore Park in the Pinery in Parker. The Park is located at the corner of Lakeshore drive & Thunderhill Rd, near Bingham Lake. We will be set up near the playground.

All-Levels flow is a dynamic, accessible, vinyasa-based class designed to help you cultivate strength, flexibility, presence, and awareness. You will be guided through mindful, unique, and inspiring flows that nurture your mind, body, and soul.

Cost: $15 or Free to Beyond the Mat Unlimited Members

A portion of our profits will be donated to Jefferson Center for Mental Health, a local non profit with a vision to make mental health care to be accessible to all.

Pre-registration is required. Please bring your own yoga mat and prop. See schedule for times and dates.
